Let's Talk Injectables! Your Questions Answered

A Women talks about her cosmetic journey

Hey there! Nurse Terri here, and today I want to chat about something I get asked about ALL the time in our med spa – injectables! I know there's a ton of information out there that can be pretty overwhelming, so I thought I'd break it down for you in simple terms, based on what I actually see and do every day.

"Wrinkle Relaxers" (AKA Neuromodulators)

First up, let's talk about what most people know as Botox (though there are other brands too, like Dysport and Xeomin). I love these treatments because they're quick, effective, and can make such a difference in how refreshed you look!

Here's the scoop: these injectables basically tell certain muscles in your face to take a little vacation. You know those lines that show up when you raise your eyebrows or squint? That's where these babies work their magic! My patients love them for:

  • Those pesky "11s" between the eyebrows

  • Forehead lines that make you look worried

  • Crow's feet (which I like to call laugh lines – they show you've lived a happy life!)

  • And even neck bands that can age us faster than we'd like

Real talk: results usually last about 3-4 months, and the treatment itself is super quick – perfect for lunch break appointments!

Fillers: Your Face's Best Friend

Now, let's chat about fillers – these are probably my favorite injectable treatments because they can make such a beautiful, natural difference. Think of fillers like your face's best friend, giving support where you need it most.

The most common types I use are made with hyaluronic acid (yes, that same ingredient you see in your skincare!). These are fantastic for:

  • Adding a little plump to your lips (without looking like a duck, I promise!)

  • Softening those smile lines around your mouth

  • Bringing back those youthful cheeks that somehow disappeared over the years

  • Even helping with those under-eye hollows that make you look tired

I also work with longer-lasting options like Sculptra, which is like planting seeds of collagen in your skin – it works more gradually but can last for years!

What to Actually Expect (From Someone Who Does This Every Day)

Let me tell you what really happens when you come in for treatment:

First off, we'll have a heart-to-heart about what's bothering you. I always say, "Point to it in the mirror!" because that helps me understand exactly what you're seeing. Then, I'll take some time to explain what I think would work best for you – and yes, sometimes that means telling you that you don't need as much as you think you do!

The actual treatment? Super quick! Most of my patients are surprised by how fast it goes. Yes, there are needles involved (I have to be honest!), but we use numbing cream when needed, and most people tell me it's way easier than they expected.

The Real Recovery Story

Here's what actually happens after your treatment:

  • You might be a little puffy (I always say it's a great excuse to binge-watch your favorite show with some ice packs!)

  • You could get some tiny bruises (but nothing a little concealer can't handle)

  • You'll be able to go right back to work (though maybe skip that intense workout class for 24 hours)

Keeping It Real: The Important Stuff

I've been doing this for years, and here's what I always tell my patients:

  • Natural results are the best results – we want people to say "You look amazing!" not "What did you have done?"

  • Good injectables shouldn't be obvious – they should just make you look like a refreshed version of yourself

  • Safety first, always! Make sure you're going to someone who's properly trained and licensed

  • It's okay to start small – we can always add more, but we want to make sure you love your results

Let's Chat!

If you've been thinking about trying injectables, or if you just have questions, come see me! I love educating my patients and helping them feel confident about their choices. And trust me – no question is too silly. I've heard them all, and I'm here to help!

Want to learn more or book a consultation? Drop by our med spa or give us a call. I'd love to help you look and feel your absolute best!

XOXO, Nurse Terri
